Real flowers vs. Silk flowers for my wedding?

Ok, i’m getting married in September and i don’t have a lot of money to spend, i’ve known that one great way to save money is in your decorations and centerpieces..
So, i’ve been thinking i can make them myself (and bridal party) and use pretty silk flowers..
Are they still “out there”.. i mean would it look very cheap?
Can i have the centerpieces and decorations be silk flowers and our bouquets w/ real flowers??
I saw on TV that noone uses silk flowers anymore… is that true?
What are you using??

are this sandals acceptable to wear to a wedding? (as a guest)?

I fell in love with this sandals and haven’t bought the dress yet, and i know it’s wrong to buy the shoes before the dress.. but seeing as i’m on the tall side and my husband is the same height as me – with me wearing sandals that is- i thought flat shoes were better, so he doesn’t look shorter, althought he doesn’t really mind!! sooo, going back to my question.. is it ok? also the wedding is on friday morning?!?! please help me..

Wedding Budget Help!!!?

My fiance and I are planning a wedding for Nov. 20, 2010 and have a max. budget of $ 10,000 but if we can keep it under that it would be great.
We have a few things that we are not willing to budge on
-evening wedding and the date
-our guest list, we have narrowed it now as much as possible.
We have a family member who is a photographer who is doing the photographs as our wedding gift and my aunt used to run a wedding cake business so she is doing out wedding cake and all we have to pay is $ 75 for the topper and to help with some of the ingredients cost.

My question is what is a good way to keep costs low with other aspects such as:
Favors- we want to give favors
Food- we don’t really want to ask people to bring food, he thinks it is tacky
Invitations- I really want them to be nice like traditional wedding invitations, I have heard about the DIY kits but don’t know much about them.
Center pieces
How many people should I have per table
Sit down dinner or buffet

Please any advice is helpful and apprecited, would love to hear your wedding stories and how you planned a wedding with a budget.

I need wedding shoes that wont make me tower over my fiance! Anybody know where I can find some short heels?

My fiance is 5’8”-5’9” and boxy and I am 5’7.5” and very skinny so if we’re standing next to each other the way I’m built makes me look taller than him as it is on a normal day. We’re getting married and I have my dress ordered but it already comes up off of thee floor without any shoes on. I can MAYBE go up to two inch heels MAX!!! Plus I cant realy wear anything bigger than that b/c or my fiances hight and build. I know with my shoes and hair I dont want to tower over him like a monster!!! I just think that looks weird…on the other hand I dont want to sacrifice style and quality because I’m tall!!!

Can anyone please tell me good places to look for 1-2 inch heels that are still stylish sexy and/or cute??? I need to find something that still has a “wow” factor (yes my shoes need a “wow” factor) but is still low. Please no flip flops or slippers. My dress is VERY formal and I need shoes to match! Thanks in advance for any help!!!
NO ballet flats, flip flops, flats, or anything without a heel. My dress is super formal and flats are not the most flattering for my stick thin legs

I am having a Halloween Wedding, I need help!?

My boyfriend proposed and we have decided to have a Halloween themed wedding in October, 2010. I have no clue where to start! I know I am on a budget, and when I say budget I don’t mean $ 10,000, I mean less than $ 1000. Hopefully a lot less. Anyway, I need some ideas on what to get and where to get it. I know we are having the wedding and reception outside in a friends back yard (very large with trees) and I would like the colors to be purple, black and orange. Very traditional Halloween. I don’t want anything fancy, but I would like it to be fun and still look beautiful. So if you have any ideas on wedding favors, cakes(cupcakes), centerpieces, tablecloths, food ideas, just anything, please, please help me out! Thanks!! (We do want some gore in there too, my boyfriend is a big horror geek! Also at the time of the wedding I will be 28 and he will be 26 if that helps at all.)
We are not a religious couple. My parents would be proud of me, they are both passed, they would love my fiance. A wedding is about marriage, not what the ceremony turns out to be. I thought this would be something fun for my friends and family to join me in doing, instead of running off to a court house or spending a ton of money on a wedding or dress that I wouldn’t be comfortable with.
