Am I suppose to wear the new bridal set beofre the wedding?

Here is the conflict between me and my soon to be husband. I lost the band the went to my original engagement ring. The band hooked into the ring. During our moving process. It got lost. I purchased another set yesterday. My fiance think I should be the new ring on now of course without the wedding band. I think I should keep wearing the engagement ring that I have on now and change into the new set on the day of the wedding. Mind you, he is already upset that I had to purchase a new one. What do I do? Also is there somewhere I can get a band that hooks inside the engagement ring that I already have.

The original engagement ring is yellow gold, and the band hooked inside of it. I LOST THAT BAND!!! I can not find a band that will even hook into this ring because of the way that it is made. Which is why I purchase a new set.
I bought a new set because I could not find a band to match the original ring. The set I have now is white gold.

  1. You can have your rings fused together after the wedding. Why would you need to buy a new engagement ring because you lost the wedding band? I’m totally confused.

  2. Why did you buy a whole set? Why didn’t you just buy a plain band? I would wear the new engagement ring now if you have to be in that situation.

I know what you are talking about, I worked in a jewelry store for years and it’s those bands are made for specific rings. I would go back to the same jewelry store and they should be able to order you a new band from the manufactuer. If you decide to keep the new ring I would wear it now. There really isn’t any point in holding on to the old one since it’s been replaced.

  4. Your fiance is right – wear the new engagement ring. He wants you to!
You can always wear the other ring on your right hand, or keep it as a dress ring.

  5. My ring hooks on to but why buy a new set. Were (he or you) bought the first ring the places did not sell them by themself. If not look around were you live there has to be a place. I don’t wear the band tell I was married. I just put the band in a save place tell the wedding. And now I wear the band first then the ring. Cause I see why you lost the band. It dose unhook sometimes.

  6. I agree with Cass.. I also used to work at a jewelry store. If for some reason you cant get them to order JUST the band (which you should be able to) you should see if you can have one custom made. But looking at your wedding date, that could be a problem. Are you more comfortable with the white gold one? (new one) or would you rather have yellow gold? If you’d rather have the yellow gold one HUNT someone should be able to have a rush delivery or whatever for you. Just talk to some of the jewelry store managers.

  7. I’m not really clear as to why you needed to get a new engagement ring, if all you lost is the wedding band, but….if it really matters to your future husband, I’d go with what he wants. Wear the new engagement ring now, use the new band on the wedding day, and put the engagement ring you already have aside and wear it occassionally, or even sell it to offset the cost of the new rings. You could visit the jeweler who sold you the original set to see if you can get a band that hooks inside, though if you already purchased new rings, I wouldn’t bother.
