Cup-Cake Stand?
Cup-Cake Stand?
Rather than purchase a wedding cake, we chose to go with the 120 cupcakes that the vendor included in our contract for our reception. My fiance and I are looking for a place that rents OR sells cupcake stands in the state of California or Arizona. We have no use for a cupcake stand after the wedding, so we would prefer renting one.
We might also have the option to downsize it to 80 wedding cupcakes since we have roughly 40 guests.
I might be able to rent tiered cake plates for them too?

good idea!!! lmao
I would start calling bakers and see if you can rent one from them. If you have any bakeries that specialize only in cupcakes, those would be the ones I would start with.
I have no idea about renting one unless there is a party rental place.
I did buy mine online though. It will hold about 60 cupcakes and it was only $ 50 including shipping.
You can always turn around and give it to someone who may need it for a party/wedding of thier own or resell it on ebay. I’ll probably give mine to the cater.
We’re having cupcakes, too, and didn’t want to buy stands for 100 cupcakes, so I made cake stands for them. I got sturdy cake rounds (about an inch thick) in 16″, 14″ and 12″ diameters (available at Michael’s, other craft stores, or restaurant supply stores for a few bucks each). I bought pretty colored glass vases (found them for a dollar each) that we’ll use as pillars to separate the layers of the stands. I’m going to put a flameless candle in each vase so that it glows from the inside. We’ll need two of these displays for 100 cupcakes (I figure about 12-16 cupcakes will need to be arranged on the table separately, possibly on two 10″ cake rounds). Way cheaper, and much more unique, than buying or renting specialized stands.
this place is located in California….

I’m in California, and my friend & I saw those at Michael’s. I think the big one was $ 29.95, but I don’t remember how many it holds. Also, I’ve seen them everywhere online. Were you thinking plastic or silver? The only problem I ran into was someone asked a question about needing ceramic specifically and they were not only hard to find, but expensive.
Target has them too but the ones I saw only hold about 40. You could always do two of them & have two totally different looks for each.

Here’s a site with large ones. I saw a 6-tier on here:

I made the one for my wedding. It was just a couple of circles cut from sheets of thin wood with pipe pieces in between. It was quite large, about 250 cupcakes. About 4 tiers high with a small one at the top to hold a 6 inch cake that had our topper and that we actually cut. Mine was similar to this one:

But you could probably use cake stands from a bakery or rental place.
I am not fram CA, but i found this website, i dont know if she is in your area though.

Also you may want to try a local bakery to see if they rent out any of there items.
Good luck to you! And Congrats!
I would seriously look into buying them, because most likely you will end up renting one or more for more than it would cost you to buy. Look around at costco, walmart, ross, etc. Another option would be to use a few cake stands that are different heights and fill those and then put the rest on the table itself.
