Halloween wedding? What route would you go?

I let my question expire and didn’t get my answer:(… My fiance and I are definatly getting married on October 31, just not sure what year…LOL. I want a fall themed wedding and Halloween themed reception with the wedding being based on old ways handfasting. The big arguement is if the wedding cake or the groom’s cake is going to be the exorcist cake for “Ace of Cakes”. Although I will admit that I love that cake, I don’t believe that I want it as the wedding cake. Also, we will be doing everything ourselves, including printing the invites. What is the protocal on invites? I guess I’m fishing for decor ideas and how weird would it be to have a cake that pukes green…LOL.

I think this is awesome. In all my years as a professional DJ I wish there would be more fun weddings like this. Your cake idea sounds great, and I think you should mix in halloween music with your dance music through out the night. On your invites you should let people know that it is a themed wedding and have them out to people 4-5 months before the wedding or sooner. I love this and I wish my wedding was like this. Hope this helps and good luck to you.

  2. Well the next time Halloween is on a Saturday is 2015 so… looks like you’ll be waiting for then. Anyway, look at some Halloween wedding inspiration boards and you’ll get tons of ideas. But the main thing you need to decide on is:

Is your wedding going to be

    SPOOKY halloween
    or
    GORY halloween?

The first would involve bats, cobwebs, old dusty things, gravestones and maybe some black roses. The latter blood, guts, brains and horror: which is the direction your Excorcist cake is headed in.

And about the cake: that excorcist cake would definitely be more of a “grooms” cake.

A cake that pukes green would be a total waste of money. as a guest there’s no way I’d want to eat any part of a cake which had green snot/vomit coming out of it. LOL. :)

Invites would be standard format with halloween touches. Bats, black, cobwebs, pumpkins, leaves, etc.

  3. I did a Halloween wedding two years ago. The centerpieces were black ostrich feathers on a Eiffel tower vase (stick the feathers in a bouquet holder and stick in the vase). Used masks on the black tables as favors and decor. The cake had a Beatlejuice and Bride character on the cake. Played Monster Mash and passed out candy bags to the kids. Puking green cake….not so much. I have to say that the guests all stayed the night and many mentioned how much fun it was. Also at the door to the reception was a 5 foot beheaded bride and groom. (available at stores around Halloween)
