“Yea that is cheap. Average cost of an engagement ring is 3 months worth of the mans salary. My issue would not be the cost of the ring, my issue would be the meaning of the ring. The ring is supposed to show how well he is intending to take care of you for the rest of your life. So to get a ring that is worth one day of work, is not showing much. But to get a ring that you know the man saved up to get, over the course of several months, is more meaningful.
In the end though every girl has a different opinion. Me personally, my husband got me a less inexpensive engagement ring and we both bought only silver wedding bands, which is what I wanted and we dumped the rest of the money into a 2 week long honeymoon which was worth more to us than a piece of jewelry.
The girl should never know how much you paid, but she will find out on her own most likely. Other girls are very judge mental as well when looking at engagement rings so they will likely be the culprits who point out the lack of value on her finger.”

How does SHE convey her “meaning”?
