Is really important for black men use the wedding ring?

I like a black guy (I am white/Mexican), I have never never never seen him using a wedding ring in fact he does not use rings but recently I knew that he is married since 3 years ago, is that he is separated and getting divorced o what? I am confused! please help! I don’t want to get hurt loving someone married.
Please don’t tell me that I should ask him because I knew him in a basket ball game in Mexico because he is a basket ball player and now he got back to USA and I have not way to communicate with him.
Don’t get me wrong! I am not racist or trying to be mean I just want to leave clear that he is black because I know for whites in America is very important use the wedding ring so I don’t know if is the same for black people.
Oh and I saw him after the games using earrings and his watch and anyway he never used any ring.
