Hm, I heard it was bad luck to use peacock feathers for a wedding. I don’t know why. I will look it up and be back.
Edit: It’s not just wedding. It’s to bring peacock feathers indoor.
It has to do with the beautiful, eye-shaped markings on the peacock feathers. Many cultures associate them with the evil eye, and to bring the evil eye into your home is to invite trouble and sorrow.
The association between peacocks and the evil eye is illustrated by the Greek myth of Argus, the monster whose body was covered with 100 eyes. He was turned into a peacock, with his eyes all over his tail feathers.
The “evil eye” is the belief that someone (especially witches) can curse you by looking at you in a certain way. Cultures throughout the world and throughout time have come up with various ways of warding off the eye. You can read more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_eye
The peacock’s tail is emblem of an Evil Eye, or an ever-vigilant traitor. The tale is this: Argus was the chief Minister of Osiris, King of Egypt. When the king started on his Indian expedition, he left his queen, Isis, regent, and Argus was to be her chief adviser. Argus, with one hundred spies (called eyes), soon made himself so powerful and formidable that he shut up the queen-regent in a strong castle, and proclaimed himself king. Mercury marched against him, took him prisoner, and cut off his head; whereupon Juno metamorphosed Argus into a peacock, and set his eyes in its tale
So maybe that’s why a lot of people don’t do it? I know my mother will not bring them indoors. We found some at the zoo when we were little and she wouldn’t even let us take them in the car because she said it would be bad luck. If you don’t believe in that sort of stuff then I guess you could go ahead and plan.
i LOVE peacock feathers
but the reason you wont find much is that a lot of people consider them to be very unlucky
my mother wouldnt have them in her house, i have them on a mirror and she tuts everytime she sees them,

I love peacock feathers, and think your ideas sound great!
One place you might want to check out is http://www.offbeatbride.com/
I think the woman who runs the site even has a “peacock feathers” tab for blog entries, so you can just click it or search for it, and you’ll find all the featured weddings and items involving peacock feathers. There are some really great photos on there and people with AMAZING ideas.
Good luck!

My friend just did this, and I love the idea. Her bridesmaids were all in different color dresses that you would find in a peacock feather. The blues, greens, turquise and then some jewel toned purples and pinks. One suggestion- I would do the tablecloths one of the bright blue or turquise colors instead of brown. If you want it less bright, try ivory instead. Congratulations!
WOW. I just wanted to say that I am having almost the same situation. My wedding is New Years Eve and I am having my girls wear navy dresses… but the flowers I got are stark white and I wanted to use something to blend them… and thought of peacock feathers as a great idea…Tried to google pictures and am not getting ideas close to what I would like. I wanted to use them in the boutonnieres and corsages also… and of course there are not many pictures… If I see any I will copy them your way : )
I didn’t know about the Greek history either, very nice to know. I am not superstitious and I think that the feathers will be beautiful and festive. I agree on the comment with the brown runners, I would recommend going with the ivory or turquoise.
