Sample Sale Dresses: Worth the Money?

I have really expensive taste and I love the more expensive looking wedding dresses. But, I don’t have that type of budget. I’ve seen designer gowns at sample sales and I was wondering if they’re worth buying or more trouble than they’re worth?

I have a budget of $ 1,200 for a dress and alternations. If I can’t go with a designer gown on sale, then I was just going to stick with a Maggie Sottero dress. She’s one of my favorite, more affordable designers.

So, has anyone bought a higher-end sample sale dress and what was your experience? I live outside of NYC, so I was thinking about visiting Kleinfeld’s annual sample sale.

But, I worry about stained and torn dresses and tons of alternations to fix them.
