Spot clean a taffeta wedding dress?
Spot clean a taffeta wedding dress?
I want to sell my wedding dress but it has a small splash stain on the front, and dusty at the bottom hem. If I pay a dry cleaners $ 100 to do it, it will almost not be worth it to sell. Any ideas for home spot cleaning?

I am going to share a little secret with all of you from someone who worked and managed a dry cleaners for 10 years (since moved on but the process hasn’t changed). They DO NOT dry clean your wedding dress. Hand to god they put it in an oversized washer machine (you know they kind at the laundromat that you clean your comforter in). The reason for this is you can not dry clean anything with beading, sequins, some types of silk, hand work or pretty much any embellishment. Usually they wash it, then hang it from the ceiling to dry abit before sending it off to the steam press to be hand steamed dry. Take this info for what it is worth but I processed my own wedding gown the same way and it came out fabulous and beading intact (no major stains but I am making it into a baby blanket and wanted it cleaned)
