Wait wait wait…are wedding rings a symbol of ownership?

I read a question way earlier about some sort of chastity device that has a special lock for which only the dominant partner has the key…

…which got to me to thinking about those Cartier bangles with the countersunk setscrew that can only be undone by a jeweler…

…and then I’m hearing that ‘Mrs.’ as a form of address designates ownerhip…

…and i’m subject to loose patterns of association…

…so I’m now wondering why married women don’t usually object to wearing rings? Aren’t they a visible symbol of marital status and therefore of ownership?
